Alpha is the umbrella organisation for study associations and magazines at the University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Humanities.
The problem
The main objective of the website is to notify member associations of important dates and provide them with the means to browse Alpha’s vast digital repository in a clear, comprehensible manner. The website hadn’t been updated in a long time however, and was lacking the hierarchy and styling to deliver on its intentions.
Diagnostics
It was clear Alpha’s website was in need of a redesign. With the earlier mentioned goals in mind, we designed and developed an intuitive, yet unique online presence for Alpha.

How we helped
In our approach, we strived for a unique, user-friendly design. To achieve the latter, we opted for the convenience of the WordPress CMS. Instead of a prefab template, however, we developed a fully custom layout. We outfitted the new layout in a fresh, hip colour palette. We then offset this approach with two classic typefaces that have stood the test of time.

The Result
is a website that doesn’t feel too corporate. Personal, but not too much out there. Everything is way more organised and the team can easily add new events, blogposts and photography. Engagement with the content went up and questions about where to find certain documents dissapeared.
“Studio Foyne has been immensely helpful, they listened carefully to our needs. The result is beautiful, one we couldn’t have hoped for when starting the project.”
